About The Department

The Department of Computer Applications at Dr. B.C. Roy Engineering College, Durgapur, established in 2005, is a pioneer department offering a two-year MCA (Master of Computer Applications) program in West Bengal. The MCA program is designed to provide advanced knowledge in computer science and emerging technologies such as Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Computer Vision. With a curriculum that balances strong theoretical foundations and extensive practical training, the Department of Computer Applications in Durgapur prepares students to meet the evolving demands of the IT industry and digital economy.

The department is supported by an experienced team of faculty members with strong academic credentials and expertise in data science, machine learning, and cyber security. In recent years, faculty members have published more than 50 research papers in reputed journals and international conferences, reflecting a strong research culture. Beyond academics, the Department of Computer Applications regularly organizes workshops, technical seminars, Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), Short-Term Training Programs (STTPs), and conferences to enhance industry exposure and problem-solving skills.
